The slate is never clean.

Start over. Nullify your acquired perceptions, erradicate prior conceptions, wipe the slate clean. The beginning of a new year is often mistaken by an opportunity to "do things differently this time around". There's nothing mystical or magical about it, you don't suddenly get to change into a different person or alter any variables of your habitual life on the first day of the year. After your hangover passes, you pledge to improve the many things that needed your attention the year before which were inconclusive and have no excuse for not being resolved other than blatant laziness. The outcome is often the perpetuation of resolutions, empty self promises which you knew were never going to come true. A half read book, a print out of a diet plan, an unused squash racket, your old contact list with school friend's e-mails, a dermatologist's business card, random stuff you let pile up. "No one lives long enough to learn everything they need to learn starting
